this is going great. i think its great how many bands have said they are interested.bill has some good ideas on the union. but i dont think the union should take money from any band its not what i want from it. it should be a help to bands and a scourge to bad landlords. dave xxx

Yeah but thats what most unions do. It's a point worth considering (or an annual fee).

St. Georges seats are free standing so it can be arranged how ever you want them. I agree, Lets not involve PJ, he is good at promoting gigs he get a cut of.

Start promoting yourselves around the place, get some adverts in the paper, get some posters up. Get this union known!

Like I said my idea of a Union is simpler than anything else. All I need is the email addy of everybands main organiser. Then I will send out a weekly email bulletin to every band that is a part of the union. The way it would work is that every band woulkd mail me with news on which venues they have played that are looking for more bands or which venues have been really bad to them. If the bands need somebody to fill in for a gig for them or maybe if a band needs a support band. Anything the band wants known to other bands in the union. I get mailed from everybody then once a week I mail everybody else on the mailing list and let them know the goings on. No membership fees as I personally would not want to receive money from other people as it gets into some kind of business then and I dont want to run a private business at the moment. I just want to help others out and make the music scene a better place for everybody. Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that this is all a waste of time. There aren't enough venues around here to warrant all of this and the venues that are around here are all shit anyway. Will do anything to make as many pennies as possible. They don't care about the local music scene even if you do.

Yeah but even if it doesn't work, thats the point of the union.

Well if a venue sucks ass and aint gonna help with anything, find another one. Im sure theres venues around Norfolk or Suffolk that have a passion for music.

There are enough venues in Yarmouth, Norwich and the areas around in the sticks to warrant a union (I use union in a loose sense though not talking picket lines here or strikes!!!)
